Cryotherapy, also called cold therapy, is the use of low temperature (freezing or near freezing temperatures) for medical treatment.
Cryotherapy, in the form of ice, is frequently used for injuries to help reduce pain and inflammation. It is also used to treat cancer and other ailments.
For injury use, cryotherapy is often applied for 10-15 minutes at a time. A cloth is placed in between your skin and the ice to prevent tissue damage.
