DEFINITION – What does Tendinitis mean?
Tendonitis is the swelling or inflammation of a tendon. It can cause pain and tenderness at the site of injury.
BREAKING DOWN – Tendinitis
Tendonitis frequently occurs due to repeated movements, such as hammering or swinging a golf club. These repetitions place stress on the tendons, causing them to become irritated.
The most common form of treatment for tendonitis is rest and stretching. Rest is required to allow time for the tendon to heal. Without giving your body the right amount of time, you could risk a tendon rupture which could lead to surgery and a more intense rehabilitation process. Other treatment options include massage, exercise, and physical therapy.
To prevent tendonitis, take breaks when performing the same movement. Focus on your technique and form, and remember to stretch it out!
