Privacy Policy

Protecting your personal information is a priority at Athlete's Choice Massage. We operate in full compliance with the Alberta Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.

This policy applies to Athlete's Choice Massage and any therapists or contractors providing services on our behalf. A copy is available upon request.

What We Collect

Personal information means any data that can identify you as an individual. This may include:

  • Name, phone number, email, and mailing address
  • Date of birth or health history
  • Payment or billing details
  • Insurance information used for direct billing

Why We Collect It

We only collect information needed to provide safe, effective care:

  • To deliver massage therapy and related services
  • To process payments for treatments, products, or gift cards
  • To facilitate direct billing with insurance providers
  • To communicate about appointments or clinic updates

Most information is collected directly from you. In limited cases, and only with your consent or as permitted by law, we may collect it from other sources.

Consent

We explain why we're collecting your information before or at the time of collection. Where the purpose is obvious — like using a credit card to process a payment — consent is implied. Express consent is required for other specific uses.

You may withdraw consent at any time, unless the information is needed for legal or contractual purposes. Withholding certain details may limit the services we can provide.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is only used for the purpose it was collected. If we plan to use it for a new purpose, we'll ask for your consent first — unless required by law.

Security

We protect your personal information through security measures appropriate to its sensitivity — guarding against loss, unauthorized access, or disclosure. Information is retained only as long as necessary for business or legal purposes.

Your Rights

You have the right to access your personal information and request corrections, subject to limited legal exceptions. If access is denied, we'll provide a written explanation.
