Neuropathy symptoms often include numbness, tingling, or burning sensations near or radiating from the affected site. Many things can cause neuropathy to occur, such as diabetes, excessive alcohol use, certain autoimmune diseases, certain poisons or medications, trauma, tumors, and more.
Problems arise with complications. The lack of sensation puts your at risk of burns, infection, or falls. To determine if it is neuropathy, your doctor with conduct a neurological exam. Treatments may include medications, physical therapy, or surgery, depending on the cause.
