Inner Elbow Pain

inner elbow pain

Symptom – Are you experiencing inner elbow pain?

Inner elbow pain is categorized as pain on the inside of the elbow that is tender, painful to touch, stiff, and weak. It may further be accompanied by numbness or tingling in the hand or fingers.

What is causing your inner elbow pain?

The most common cause of inner elbow pain is golfer’s elbow. Like tennis elbow, it’s the inflammation of the tendons that attach at the elbow joint. In this case, it happens where the tendons attach to the bony part on the inside of your elbow. And this type of injury is often associated with repeated use. For instance, it’s more common in racket sports, throwing activities, and weight training. Many people in their set occupation may also experience golfer’s elbow. For example, plumbers, construction workers, and carpenters are known to experience elbow pain relating to golfer’s elbow.

Although golfer’s elbow is not the only cause of inner elbow pain – just the most common. Inner elbow pain may further be caused by dislocation, fractures, and other strains or sprains.

What can you do to relieve your inner elbow pain?

If you suspect it is golfer’s elbow (i.e. it goes away and comes back after activity, or the pain persists), it’s a good idea to get your limb examined by a professional. Adequate rest is also necessary for your body to heal. If you continue to do the activity causing pain, you could cause a more severe injury. In turn, your recovery time may become longer. And if you can’t completely rest your limb, consider taking at least frequent breaks.
