Forward head posture is the position where your head moves forward, past the line of your shoulders. It can create strain and stress on the neck and surrounding muscles and tissues.
Forward head posture is sometimes referred to as ‘text neck,’ or ‘reading neck.’ It is a postural issue that can create other issues, such as muscle strains and pains. It is often caused by computer or cellphone use, sleeping with an elevated pillow, or from a muscle weaknesses.
Treatment frequently involves addressing the symptoms, such as pain. Manual therapists also target the muscle imbalances and weaknesses to help improve the condition and correct one’s posture.
