Johnson Insurance (part of the TD Insurance group) offers group and individual health benefit plans to Canadians. Extended health plans through Johnson may include coverage for Registered Massage Therapy depending on the plan level.
Coverage
Johnson Insurance extended health plans may include coverage for Registered Massage Therapy (RMT). Coverage amounts, annual maximums, and eligible practitioner requirements vary by plan. Your RMT receipt from ACM includes your therapist’s registration number, session date, duration, and fee — everything your provider needs to process the claim.
How it works
ACM submits your claim directly to Johnson Insurance at the time of your appointment — you pay nothing out of pocket for the covered portion. To process your claim on the day, make sure your insurance information is entered on your intake form before you arrive.
What to have ready
- Your Johnson Insurance plan number and member ID
- Your relationship to the plan holder (if you’re a dependent)
- Any authorization number your plan requires in advance
We can’t verify your coverage before your appointment — contact Johnson Insurance directly to confirm your annual limit and remaining balance before you book.
Note: while we process direct billing successfully in the vast majority of cases, it is not guaranteed. If your claim can’t be processed on the day, we’ll provide a receipt for manual submission to your insurer.

FAQ
Does Johnson Insurance cover massage therapy?
Coverage for RMT through Johnson Insurance depends on the specific plan you hold. Most extended health plans that include paramedical benefits cover Registered Massage Therapy. Review your policy documents or contact Johnson Insurance directly to confirm your coverage.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
Most Johnson Insurance plans do not require a physician referral for RMT coverage. Check your policy booklet or contact Johnson to confirm the requirements for your specific plan.
How do I check my remaining coverage?
Log into your Johnson Insurance member portal or call the number on the back of your benefits card. ACM can’t access your plan details — only you or your plan administrator can confirm your remaining balance.
What if my direct billing claim is declined?
We’ll let you know right away and process payment directly. We’ll give you an itemized RMT receipt to submit to Johnson Insurance for manual reimbursement — most plans process these within 5–10 business days.
