DEFINE – What is Pelvic Blocking?
Pelvic blocking is a technique used in chiropractic care to help re-balance and re-align the spine and the hips.
BREAKING DOWN – Pelvic Blocking
Pelvic blocking typically uses cushioned wedges placed under each side of the pelvis. This pulls your spinal disc away from any nerve it may be pinching. It’s a slow and gentle practice with no forceful movements. It naturally works to relax the ligaments and tissues, which re-aligns and re-balances the body, specifically the spine and hips.
This type of chiropractic technique is frequently used to treat herniated discs. However, it can be used to treat hip pain, back pain, headaches, shoulder pain, and other muscular or tissue tension located throughout the body.
Chiropractic care is based on the idea that the spine and pelvis are the center of the body and thus, the center of dysfunctions, imbalances, pain, and illness. Everything in the body is connected. And most often, these complaints can come back to some kind of issue within the spine. When the spine is misaligned or dysfunctional, the signals from the central nervous system, the brain and spine, don’t travel as effectively or efficiently to other parts of the body. This can lead to miscommunications in the body that promote ill health as opposed to good health.
