Pectoralis Minor Muscle
DEFINITION – What does Pectoralis Minor mean?
The smaller of the two pectorals, the Pectoralis Minor is located directly below the Major, extending from each side of the ribcage at the third, fourth, and fifth ribs. Thin and flat, it connects to the shoulder blade’s coracoid process.
FUNCTION – Pectoralis Minor Muscle
A secondary muscle for respiration (breathing), this muscle’s primary function is allowing you to reach forward and push down. Innervated (controlled) by the medial pectoral nerves, the Pectoralis Minors partner with the Serratus Anterior muscles to give the shoulder blades full range of movement.
