Numbness in Hands

ARE YOU SUFFERING FROM NUMBNESS IN HANDS?

Paresthesia is the feeling of tingling and numbness in body parts. Often, it occurs when one of your limbs fall asleep and in that case, it’s the result of strangled blood flow, disappearing once flow has been restored, usually after much limb shaking and cussing. For most of us the issue is wholly manageable, but in many cases, numbness is the result of something more serious that doesn’t go away on its own.

To get relief from constant numbness or tingling, you should book an appointment with one of our massage therapists. To do that, simply scroll to the bottom of this page and click on “book appointment.”

What is the most common cause of numbness in hands?

Some common causes of hand pain and numbness include diseases such as Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, stroke and various brain disorders. However, problems with numbness and/or tingling in the hands are more often the result of over-pressured nerves, caused by stressed or thickened muscles, over-sized blood vessels, cysts and even injury.

For example, pressure on the ulnar nerve at the elbow causes numbness along the back of the hand over the pinky finger, while pressure on the radial nerve in the forearm causes numbness on the back of the thumb. Myofascial Pain Syndrome is also often the cause of this over-pressuring, chiefly the result of over-stressed muscles in the shoulders and neck.
