Balinese Massage

DEFINITION – What does Balinese Massage mean?

Balinese massage is a full-body and deep massage. It combines techniques from acupressure, aromatherapy, reflexology, and other massage therapy types.

BREAKING DOWN – Balinese Massage

Balinese massage originates from the island of Bali in Indonesia. The goal is relaxation and to achieve a sense of overall well-being. This type of massage is often recommend to de-stress, unwind, and relax.

Generally, a baliense massage combines techniques, such as kneading, stroking, pressure, skin rolling, and more. In some cases, warm or hot stones may also be used. Aromatherapy is further considered an important part in a traditional balinese massage. The therapist will use essential oils, like jojoba, rose, sesame, and Thaitian monoi, that help calm and relax your mind and body. A typical session lasts about 60 minutes.

But what are the benefits? We already know it relaxes you, but what else? A balinese massage can promote proper healing of muscle damage, reduce stress, improve circulation, and ease the pain associated with muscular injuries.

When you go a baliense massage, expect to lay on a table, floor mattress, or massage couch. Deep pressure and long but gentle strokes will be applied to promote the relaxation effects.

As per any massage, let your therapist know if you have any pre-existing conditions or if you are pregnant.
