DEFINITION – What does Fascia mean?
Fascia is a connective tissue the surrounds your bones, muscles, organs, blood vessels, and nerves. In other words, it connects everything throughout the body. Hence, ‘everything in the body is connected.’ This tissue functions to support and protect your body.
BREAKING DOWN – Fascia
Fascia is a flexible tissue that allows your muscles and organs to move freely, without friction. Pain may occur where the fascia becomes restricted or where adhesions, rigid scar-like tissue, form after injury.
However, massage techniques, such as myofascial release, can help reduce pain and tension in the muscles caused by fascia restrictions. Further, using a massage ball, foam roller, stretching, and maintaining good posture can help improve and maintain optimal fascia health.
